A Course in Miracles is a self-study spiritual thought system which teaches that the way to heal our world is by forgiveness. It uses Christian terminology, but its principles transcend religion. This study and meditation program offers a path to peace and freedom from the illusion of fear, and is open to people of all backgrounds. The Course has three books: the Text, which lays out the concepts that make up its thought system; the Workbook for Students, which contains 365 daily lessons that emphasize experience over belief in a theology; and the Manual for Teachers, which answers questions frequently asked by students.

This book teaches that everyone is worthy of love and respect, and that forgiveness is the only way to release guilt. It also teaches that miracles are the natural expression of love, and that they can bring us healing and wholeness. The Course also teaches that miracles can occur on both the physical and spiritual levels, and that they may not always have a recognizable physical effect.

The Foundation for A Course in Miracles (FACIM) is a nonprofit organization founded to facilitate the study and practice of ACIM. It has a national and international membership, an academy, and a retreat center. FACIM’s goal is to foster spiritual development through ACIM and other non-dual teachings, such as the Enneagram.

Kenneth and Gloria Wapnick are cofounders of FACIM. They have both studied the Course extensively since its publication, and both lecture throughout the United States and internationally. Their organization grew out of their private study group, which they started in 1982. They have been associated with the Course for many years and have contributed to its translation into numerous languages. The Wapnicks live a simple, devotional life in Strawberry River Canyon, Utah, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Chapala, Mexico, where they host prayer, study, and retreat events.

Ken Wapnick is a clinical psycholo-gist and a longtime friend of Helen Schucman, who was responsible for channeling A Course in Miracles from an entity she believed to be Jesus. He also helped her prepare the manuscript for publication and served on the board of the Foundation for Inner Peace, the nonprofit corporation founded to publish and distribute the Course. He has written two supplemental ACIM pamphlets and has given numerous lectures on the Course.

He has been the lead editor for both the Scriptural Text and the supplementary workbook lessons. He was also a key player in the editing of the initial typewritten ACIM version, known as the “ACIM UrText,” along with Helen and William Thetford. Then he worked with Helen on further revisions for the final printed edition of ACIM, which was published in 1975.
