Before you can play ranked games in Valorant, you need to complete five placement matches. These will help the game figure out where you should start in the ranking system.
Riot has made a few changes to the way rankings work in the new closed beta. The main change is that RR gains are based on your overall performance.
Iron
When you first start playing ranked Valorant, Riot will place you in an initial rank based on your performance during five placement matches. Then, if you perform well enough, you’ll climb up the ranks of Valorant. Riot uses a unique ranking system that’s built around your MMR, or Matchmaking Rating. The MMR aims to give you a precise assessment of your skill in the game, and it’s used to determine who you play against, as well as the rank you gain or lose in a given match.
Riot has also tweaked the ranked system to make it fairer for players. The game now rewards players for good performances, while reducing the amount of rake they can lose through bad ones.

Bronze

Silver
Like many other online multiplayer titles, Valorant has a ranking system that determines your ability to compete in ranked matches. This system relies on a combination of factors to evaluate your play, including win/loss ratio, game time spent, and the number of ranked games played.
These factors are used to calculate your MMR, which is hidden to the player but is a good indicator of your skill level. However, the ranking system also uses a separate measurement of your performance called RR. RR is awarded to players after each competitive match and can vary from 10 to 50 RR depending on the outcome of the match.
Once you’ve earned enough RR points to achieve your silver rank, you can start playing ranked games in Valorant. New players will need to reach account level 20 before they can access ranked matches, but that gives them plenty of time to practice their aim and strafing skills.
Gold
