The Manual for Teachers is a key component of the Course. It is designed to guide the teacher of the Course in his or her role as a healing presence. The Manual is written for the teacher who has made a choice to teach the Course to others, and it is intended to help the teacher find his or her own spiritual identity.
Essentially, the teachings of the Course are meant to lead the teacher to a recognition that he or she is a holy child of God. The process of recognizing this truth is one that involves forgiveness and letting go of all the illusions of the world.
When this happens, the teachings of the Course will be revealed to the world. This is called the Era of Redemption, and it will make even the miracles that are enclothed in the natural order at present more evident.
According to the teachings of the Course, a teacher of God must teach his or her pupils that miracles are real and that the purpose of life is to give God glory. The teacher must also demonstrate a willingness to forgive those things that have hurt him or her in the past.
In addition, the teacher must be willing to let go of the concept of reincarnation. The Manual for Teachers states that the belief in reincarnation is "beside the point" and should not be taught to the pupils. In fact, the teachers of the Course should not even believe in reincarnation unless they are sure that it will not hinder their own progress.
The Second Coming
When most people hear the word Kabbalah they think of some sort of supernatural superstition or cultish religion. And indeed, there are many gurus and roshis who have imported into our culture from the East that fall into this category. However, there are also some who have learned from the old Chassidic tradition of Jewish mysticism. They have a profound spiritual knowledge that can foster spiritual, emotional and material growth in those who apply it. One of these traditions is A Course in Miracles, or ACIM.
ACIM is a self-study system of'spiritual psychology' that has already been taught in thousands of study circles around the world since its publication in 1976. It is both profound and practical and combines spiritual teachings with far-reaching and practical psychological insights. It is not a religion, but it can be practiced along with any faith.
The work of ACIM is the result of years of intensive study and meditation on the ancient teachings of the Kabbalah by Helen Schucman and William Thetford. According to the Kabbalists, there are two types of miracles: manifest and concealed. Manifest miracles happen in your everyday life and are often very difficult to detect. For example, you have heard a person tell the story of how they were almost in a car accident or how they walked under something that nearly fell on them. These are examples of an active miracle that shows you that Hashem (God) is supporting you and protecting you from harm.
During the Era of Redemption, even the miracles that are enclothed in the natural order will become more apparent. The miracles will reveal the infinite dimensions of light from Ein Sof that they conceal at present. This will indicate that the Era of Redemption is drawing closer.
