A woman told police that she was recording for her co-worker, Karl Landt. She said that she recorded 40 to 50 times in the locker room at the rec center. This was after Landt had asked her to film the women's locker room at the RecPlex. Eventually, she returned the cameras to Landt.
But when the cops took a look at the recovered footage, they found it wasn't just nude videos. Instead, they found images of juveniles and nude adult women. In fact, they found more than a hundred of the videos on Landt's computer.
Landt faces 251 charges, and faces 850 years in prison. His attorneys have yet to comment on the charges. Several of the videos were found in Landt's desk drawer. Other videos were found in his home. When police searched his home, they found several computer memory devices. Some of these were found with child pornography files on them. These files were discovered on the computers that were in Landt's home.

She has been charged with a variety of crimes, including planting an inconspicuous camera and recording workouts with the intent to sell them on eBay. According to the criminal complaint, the woman told officers she had set up the camera about five times.

When police officers arrived at the RecPlex, the woman handed them several lockers and told them she was a gym member and had been using the facility five or six times a week. While examining the lockers, an officer observed two cameras - one at the upper body level, and the other at the lower. After comparing them, the officer noted that the video was not of great quality, but the woman was able to show the cameras to the police.
Several digital cameras were found in the lockers. In addition, a woman carrying an infant approached the police and handed them a box of 10 lockers. They were told she had been carrying the items on several occasions and was unsure of her intentions, and had not done a lot of detective work. However, the woman told them that Landt, her co-worker, had given her a few video cameras, and was interested in capturing her workouts. One of the cameras was attached to a remote control.
Several videos were also recovered from Landt's home. According to the police, one of the videos is a "high-definition video that would play for 880 days if strung end to end." Those were the only real mysteries left unsolved, but investigators were able to find hundreds of other videos.
